I hope that you are all well and taking care of yourselves during these wild times. Here at Burnt Island headquarters we are busily running another KS campaign (from our sibling company KTBG - more about this later). But we haven't forgotten about you! A few very important things today ...

Locking BackerKit Orders

Tomorrow (Friday, November 19th) is the day we have planned to lock orders. We do this so that we know how many units we need to order of this game and we can get the ball rolling. So, tomorrow at 8pm EST, I will hit the lock order button in BackerKit. Please don't worry if you think that you will need to change your address at some point. I won't be locking addresses until we are about a month from shipping the games to you. There is a long time before that will happen.

If You Have Not Received Your BackerKit Email

Before you send me a message saying that you didn't get your email, please look in all of your spam folders. Often people find their emails in the strangest of places. Please DM me if have still not been able to find the BackerKit email. We want to make sure that everyone's surveys are filled out before we order our games.

Backer Surveys and Timelines

Hello Agents,

It has been a few weeks of getting our ducks in a row and putting together the BackerKit survey for In Too Deep. We have been so eager to send them out to you. Tomorrow afternoon (Toronto time) we'll be starting to send them out. At first only 5% of the surveys are emailed as a smoke test to see if we did everything right. If everything is looking good I'll send the okay to BackerKit and then the rest of them will go out. If you don't get your survey right away, please don't worry. You will get it. 

Often BackerKit surveys get delivered to "other" email folders and not to your inbox. If it is already the weekend and you feel like you haven't received your survey, please check your "other" email folders.

How BackerKit Surveys Work

Some of you are seasoned vets to Kickstarter and pledge managers, and can do this with your eyes closed. Some of you are new to it. So, this section is for newer-to-Kickstarter backers. If you are a seasoned vet, feel free to move on to the next section.

When you receive your survey, you'll be asked several questions. You must answer each of them to get to your pledge. Feel free to add-on any of the available add-ons, including the amazing Burnt Island card and token racks

After you have finished adding-on, you will have to add in your shipping address. Doing this will calculate your shipping cost. You'll need to enter a credit card number to finalize your pledge. If you have any further questions about this, please don't hesitate to ask in the comments below.

This is the date we are sending out surveys.

Lock Order Date

This is the date that we are going to lock your orders. We do this so that we know how many games we'll need to manufacture.

November 19, 2020

Charge Credit Cards Date

We will charge your credit cards for shipping and add-ons on this date. Sometimes banks/credit cards refuse charges that are unknown. Please let your bank know that we will be charging you on this date.

February 9, 2021

Estimated Shipping Date

Communication From Burnt Island

We are a company that prides itself on customer service, transparency, and honesty. We will be forthcoming about what is going on, every step of the way. Please expect that we will be sending updates to you once a month, at least, even if it is to report that there is nothing to report (this usually happens during the manufacturing phase).

Next Steps on the Burnt Island Games Side of Things

Luckily almost everything is complete in terms of game design, art, and graphic design. Once we finalize pricing from the manufacturer, we'll be sending in our print files. It usually takes about a month after that to receive the sample. However, being that it is almost the holiday season, we're banking on getting the sample in the new year. Once we do, we'll have a look over it with a fine tooth comb, fix any errors that might be present, and resend files to the manufacturer. We'll also send you some photos of the sample so that you can see what we can see. Then we wait the very long wait. 

The time during the manufacturing phase is excruciating. It is so hard to wait all of those long months. It will seem like it is taking longer than usual to produce In Too Deep. While in production, Chinese factories will be off for about a month in February for their Lunar New Year celebrations. Once manufacturing is finally complete, we'll tie up our fulfilment, and get the games moving to their various regions around the world. We are more than confident that this game will get to you by September 2021.

We Have Gone In Too Deep

Hello from the other side, Agents,

What a wild ride the last 48 hours have been. To everyone who has joined us since last night (Toronto time), we welcome you with open arms. For those of you who have been here for some time, you have been amazing. Thank you to our fantastic cheerleaders (you know who you are) for making the last hours of this campaign some of our very best in our history of running Kickstarter campaigns. Watching your excitement for every dollar has just been so wonderful for us. We have had a really amazing ride on this campaign, and we hope that you have as well.

To all of the media who have taken time out of their busy schedules to give us a hand or help bring this game to life, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You are all truly loved.

To Daryl, the fabulous co-designer of In Too Deep, thank you so much for your thoughtful design and the depth of knowledge and experience that you brought to this project. It was an absolute pleasure to work with you.

Finally, to the amazing Burnt Island team, Josh and Sean, for whom this would not be possible. I couldn't have asked for more wonderful people to have by my side throughout the ups and downs of this journey. Sean, your tireless work day in and day out does not go unrecognized. You are amazing at what you do, and we are lucky to have you working with us. And Josh, of course, the visionary, the co-designer, the almost everything on this campaign, thank you, thank you, thank you for everything you have done to help make this game the amazing one that it is. What We've Unlocked

We knew that this one would be ours!

But it was a HUGE surprise for us that we unlocked the Wooden Hook Tags!

Well done backers, well done! This game is jam packed with stunning components and so much content you could play this game many many times and never have the same outcome.

What's Next For Us

Agents, now is the long anticipated wait. In 11 months, we'll have In Too Deep at your doorsteps. But before that can happen, we've got lots of work to do. First things first! We are taking this weekend off. When we get back after our weekend, we'll get to work on polishing up the mechanisms and the art for the game. We will then put our order in to the manufacturer. Then once a deposit is made, the manufacturer create and then send us a sample. We anticipate receiving the sample within the next 3 months. Please note that we are making this game in China, and China takes a 1 month vacation in February. We hope to get the sample before then. If we do and everything checks out, we will go to print immediately. This means we'll begin at the end of February. The manufacturing process takes 45 days. It will then take 1 month to get the games from China to your region (if it is not Asia, that is). From there it will be another 3-4 weeks for your game to get to your doorstep. Keep in mind that there are always hiccups along the way. Sometimes a component in the sample just isn't right and has to be remade, or there is a storm on the ocean when your games are on the ship, all causing delays. One thing is for sure, no matter how much work goes into it, we are going to make it our priority to get this game to you as fast as we can.

What's Next For You

Over the next two weeks Kickstarter will be charging your credit cards. Please make your credit card company aware that Kickstarter will be charging for In Too Deep. Some companies are on high alert for fraud, and don't accept Kickstarter charges automatically. Around the October 22nd you'll receive your BackerKit email. BackerKit is the pledge manager we use to collect your order, your address, and your payment for shipping and anything else you want to add on. Please look out for it, as sometimes these emails end up in "other" email folders. We will leave the BackerKit ordering phase open until we go to print. We'll likely close things up and be charging your credit cards for add-ons and shipping at the beginning of January. Again, you'll have to make sure that your credit card company knows that it will be charged. We will remind you when this happens. Your addresses will be locked when we send the games from China to your region. We'll also give you a heads-up about this as well. These deadlines are hard deadlines, and we will stick by them so that we can make sure everything goes smoothly on our end.

Blasting Through Stretch Goals

Hi Agents,

With another two Stretch Goals down, and more to go we are looking at $167,442CA pledged, 334% funded, 2,288 backers, and still 32 hours to go! As we always do, let me take a moment of your time to thank our backers that have joined us since our last update (there are many hundreds of you). We welcome you with open arms! Thank you for joining us. And thank you to those of you who have been sticking around to see where this campaign will take us. We have to say, we are completely in love with the way our backers have supported us, and supported one another. This is likely our nicest campaign we have ever had. Move ITD Up the Kicktraq Hot List

Kicktraq is often a destination for people who like to back Kickstarter campaigns. Currently In Too Deep is sitting at #6 on the Hot List. This is no small feat being that we are competing with some very HUGE campaigns at the moment. To keep us seen and on the Kicktraq Hot List all you have to do is go to the In Too Deep Kicktraq page, click on the green Visit Project button, and comment on our campaign. The algorithms that they have created work to help keep this game visible on their own website. Thanks to all of our backers who continue to promote this effort!

5th Player is Ours and Voting Results

Hello Agents,

Last night, as we were just about going to sleep, an amazing thing happened. We hit our 5th player Stretch Goal. We are really excited to be able to now offer a 1-5 player game to you. Before we go more into what we've uncovered, let me welcome those of you who have just joined us, and say thank you to those of you who have been here for some time. This has been an amazing campaign that has been made more amazing by the wonderful community. We are so excited that you are all here with us during the last hours of the campaign. Now, on with the show!

What We've Unlocked

Having the 5th player was really important to us. We didn't want to add it until we knew that it was just right. Now we know. And now it's yours!!
